Digital Sources: Real or fake?

PROJECT: Content/Lesson Plan

COMPANY: Academia Los Pinares

CHALLENGE: Creating a lesson that encouraged student-guided research with a focus on primary and secondary sources. Once these sources had been located, students were expected to evaluate the credibility of sources with specific criteria, then to make a conclusion based on the credible sources.

SOLUTION: A unit revolved around the idea of researching the death of Edgar Alan Poe. The unit required students to put their detective caps on and dive deep into the resources and information revolving around Edgar Alan Poe’s death. This meant going to the primary source of his obituary, surveying the credibility of other sources, and then making a decision to continue researching based on what they learned to be a credible source.
